You may have noticed that we now have a new channel on Youtube. The username is BreakfreeChristian. I had to remove the old channel under my personal name because there were identity theft problems. I still have the old video blogs and will upload them again as time permits. The format of the videos has changed a bit too. I hope you enjoy the new format. Eventually other missionaries joining our team will also submit blogs for this new channel...... enjoy!
Beverly Rivers Ministries: Blog
This is probably the most difficult blog I’ve written thus far. On August 29-Sept 1 , I journeyed to the Sendai area with a team of volunteers to help in the tsunami disaster relief. Once Japanese friends became aware of my plan to go, they began thanking me before I went and even after I returned. I really didn’t know how to respond to this because I feel that my service is such a small offering and I don’t deserve any praise. Only the Lord our God deserves praise. I am healthy, I am strong, and I had free time to give… it is my reasonable service. If I lost my home, my loved ones, my job and my entire livelihood in one day, I would want someone to come and allow me to remember, let me mourn, and help me recover. In a panoramic view of the magnitude of this disaster, my small effort seems to make little difference. However, so many people of like mind joined together, and God used it for His glory to reach families who suffered great loss , helping them to salvage and build upon their dwindling hope. Our listening ears and hearts of compassion were greatly appreciated and I pray that we planted a seed of hope in Jesus name.
Every Tuesday I give vocal training and gospel classes to a group of enthusiastic students at Akashi Christ Church. Half of these students are non-Christians. I arrived at Akashi station early a few times so that I could take some photos and a few video clips to share. I also managed to get a short clip of the class as I was teaching an interpretive dance to the Kurt Carr song, "At All Times". Watch video below... Enjoy!
Just a quick update as I prepare for three recital concerts this week. Please keep us in your prayers.
On the train today, I was reminded that I am inadequate to save the people of Japan, but our God… Jesus is Mighty to save. In a moment He can change a life forever. Jesus is with me always even to the ends of the earth… and He’s all I need.
